Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari today sought to lure Purvanchali voters during a roadshow in Mehrauli by saying his appointment as head of the party unit in the national capital was a recognition of the contribution of the whole community.
Tiwari visited pockets of 17 wards in soputh Delhi during his Vijay Vikas Yatra, where people from eastern UP and Bihar have settled in unauthorised colonies and JJ clusters in large numbers.
The BJP is the first party which has appointed a person of Purvanchal origin as its Delhi unit chief, Tiwari said.
"The respect given to me by the BJP is the respect for all Purvanchali and recognition of their contribution to the development of Delhi. I believe Purvanchali will express their gratitude to the party by enabling it win MCD polls," he said.
The BJP has fielded 27 candidates of Purvanchali origin in the MCD polls, slated to be held on April 23.
