Architect sent to CBI custody after being arrested for graft

A special court sent an architect empanelled with Punjab National Bank's Circle Office to CBI custody today till April 13, a day after he was arrested for allegedly accepting a Rs 12,000 bribe from a private company in the city.
Architect Arun Rajput was produced before Special CBI Judge Rajiv Kumar Ayachi, who sent him to CBI remand for three days after the prosecuting agency sought his custody.
Rajput was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from one Vipin Jain, the owner of a private electrical firm.
His office and residence here were searched, after which incriminating documents were recovered, a CBI officer said.
The CBI officer said that Rajput had allegedly demanded the bribe from Jain to give a favourable report of the electrification work which his company had carried out at a PNB's branch in MP's Mandsaur district, in order to clear his bill.
