"The committee is studying all aspects of the Project in a comprehensive manner and only after the expert committee report is submitted, we will hold consultations with all the stakeholders and take a decision in this regard," Goyal told reporters here.
The minister said that the delay was "unfortunate" and he was trying to stop further delay "but at the same time the safety, security and livelihood of the riparian states will not be compromised".
The minister said that he also talked to Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in this context and hoped that the committee submitted its report at the earliest.
He said that Rs 6000 crore has been already spent.
"Once the issues are resolved, the project will open up a floodgate of job opportunities, irrigation and power to the entire region," Goyal added.
