48 fresh cases of chikungunya and 32 cases of dengue were reported in the week ending December 10, a report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation states.
153 cases of chikungunya 105 of dengue were recorded in the week ending December 3.
This year, among the three municipal corporations the highest number of cases (534) were reported from SDMC areas. The number of cases in NDMC and EDMC were 327 and 281 respectively.
SDMC tabulates the data for vector-borne disease in the national capital on behalf of all the civic bodies.
Out of the 9661 confirmed cases of chikungunya, 1875 cases were found untraced after investigation while addresses of 1796 patients were not available.
Delhi and other parts of north India faced a spike in chikungunya cases after nearly 10 years. In 2006, over 13 lakh suspected cases of chikungunya were reported.
At least 21 deaths due to dengue have been reported at various hospitals, including nine at AIIMS but the report puts the number but the SDMC report claims six deaths only.
