Meghalaya-based A'Chik Songna An'Pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) was arrested and a cache of arms and ammunition seized from Goalpara district by a joint team of Army and Assam Police.
The militant was apprehended near Damra village yesterday during a joint operation by Red Horns division and police following specific information by Eastern Command Intelligence, a defence release said.
The militant was identified, the release said a .22 mm pistol, ammunition and one hand grenade were seized from him, it said.
ASAK is a splinter group of the banned GNLA.
