An Assistant Sub-inspector of police was killed and three other cops were injured when their vehicle rammed into a stationary truck on the National Highway 34 near Narayanpur in this district early today.
ASI Pathik Sarkar was killed and a constable and two homeguards were seriously injured when the jeep in which they were on a routine patrol crashed into a stationary truck from behind in the wee hours, a police officer said.
The injured constable and two homeguars were admitted to a nursing home in a serious condition, he said.
It appeared that a tyre of the jeep got burst before it banged on the lorry causing the mishap, he said.
