Mukhi, who served as the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in his previous assignment, will be sworn in as Governor of Assam tomorrow, an official release said.
The chief minister welcomed the Governor designate and expressed confidence that under his able guidance Assam would march forward on the path of development and prosperity.
Sonowal hoped that the governor designate, who was awarded the Best Finance and Planning Minister by the then Planning Minister, Pranab Mukherjee in 1997 and best MLA by the then Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi in 2002, would offer advice and guidance to the state government.
