As per a notification by the state Labour and Employment Department, wages of unskilled workers have been raised to Rs 280 per day from Rs 150 per day earlier.
Wages for skilled workers have been hiked to Rs 350 per day from from Rs 208, and for semi-skilled to Rs 280 per day from from Rs 150 earlier.
The state government also introduced a new segment called highly skilled job and earmarked Rs 450 per day for this class of workers.
The hike will be applicable for the employees and workers engaged in various employments like bakery, industry, carpentry, earth-filling, LPG distribution, petrol pump workers, hotel, restaurant, etc, the notification said.
The wage hike has come at the directive of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, the notification said.
