Police had registered a case on receiving a written complaint from the victim's husband last night about the incident.
The complaint stated that on April 8 evening the driver demanded extra money from her over the meter rate and started arguing with her. He even tried to misbehave and used foul language against her in the public place.
When she tried to click his photo, the auto driver is said to have forcefully obstructed by assaulting her, police said, quoting from the complaint.
The victim had posted about the incident on a social networking site alleging that the driver was from Ola Cabs.
Ola Cabs had responded to her post stating that it has taken action against the driver.
It had also said that the company was in touch with the victim to get her justice.
