Aware of Chinese development activities in Indian Ocean ring:

The government today said it is aware of Chinese participation in development projects in the strategically-important Indian Ocean region while maintaining that China has not set up any naval base in the Seychelles.
"As per information available, no naval base has been established by China," Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
"Government, however, is aware of Chinese participation in development projects in the Indian Ocean ring and keeps a constant watch on all developments concerning our national security," the Minister said.
Modernisation of Indian Navy to create capability for future threats and challenges is an ongoing process, he added.
