Sharma, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, will hold the additional charge for three months beyond July 3 or till the appointment of a regular incumbent, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.
In another order, IFoS officer S S Negi has been appointed as Director General (Forests) and Special Secretary in Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
Negi, a 1980 batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, will replace S S Garbyal who retires on July 31, the order said.
