An eight-month-old girl was found alive in a roadside garbage bin in RTC complex area of Kakinada last night.
Some people rummaging through the garbage noticed her as she was crying.
ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) officials took custody of the baby and admitted her to the Government General Hospital in the city.
Hospital authorities estimated the girl's age to be between eight to nine months.
"We will report discovery of the child to the police so that they can search for her parents," said an ICDS official.
