Bail denied to Karunanidhi's relative in land grabbing case

A court here today denied bail to various persons, including Uma Maheshwari, a relative of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, arrested earlier this month in connection with a land grabbing case.
According to prosecution, a property on 16 grounds of land (one ground is 2,400 sq ft) in the city belonging to a Trust, were illegally taken over by one Arcid Foundation to which Uma Maheswari is associated.
The Trust filed a complaint to the Commissioner of Police that its property in Nungambakkam in the city was forcibly taken over by the the foundation, following with the office bearers of the Trust werre arrested.
