Barley prices inched higher by Rs 6.50 to Rs 1,340 per quintal in futures trade today as traders raised bets in line with a strong physical demand.
According to marketmen, raising of bets by participants, tracking a firm trend at the spot markets on robust demand for beer makers influenced barley futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in April gained Rs 6.50, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 1,340 per quintal with an open interest of 420 lots.
Also, the contract for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 3, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 1,357 per quintal open interest stood of 10,320 lots.
