Vigilance Investigation Bureau
(VIB) sleuths today nabbed the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tarari in Bihar's Bhojpur district while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 11,000 from a person.
Vigilance department's Director General (DG) P K Thakur said one Arun Kumar Singh, husband of a member of Moap Kalan panchayat in Tarari block that BDO Mithilesh Kumar Singh was demanding Rs 15,000 for granting administrative approval to a project of building a concrete village road.
The vigilance sleuths verified the complaint and found it to be true. The complainant bargained to lessen the amount to Rs 11,000 which the BDO accepted.
"Accordingly a team led by DSP Maharaja Kanishka Kumar was dispatched to Tarari. The BDO was arrested while taking the bribe money from the complainant. He is being interrogated and will be produced in the special vigilance court in Patna later on," said Thakur.
