CRPF chief Prakash Mishra today asked his troops to undertake dare-devil operations in anti-Naxal and anti-insurgency hit areas in the country but ensure a 'zero' casualty rate by doing these tasks smartly and tactically.
Mishra, who was facilitating about 36 brave hearts of the force (eight posthumous) who were awarded gallantry medals this Republic Day, said he would want the force personnel and officers to exhibit the greatest degree of "bravery" and ensure that the force gets 100 medals in this category this year.
"I will ask you to ensure zero casualty. You should undertake brave steps and operations but they should be coupled with smart tactics, good firing abilities and quick movement. You can undertake brave operations but also ensure zero casualty," he said.
The Director General of the country's largest paramilitary force, also the lead force for anti-Naxal operations, said he and his officials are actively working to reduce stress amongst CRPF men and women in combat.
He said the force is undertaking fast rotation of battalions and before the end of June this year, all those personnel deployed in stressful and hard areas for a long time would be transferred to rather less hazardous areas.
"We will also ensure that the living conditions and barracks of our jawans and other officials are made better. Steps have been initiated in this regard and results would be visible from next year," he said.
