After Lenovo and Gionee, another tech giant Asus has advised its customers to be cautious while purchasing devices from e-commerce platforms and online shopping sites.
The Taiwanese firm has also advised its users to check pre- and post-sales terms as well as the authenticity of the product while buying the device from online retailers.
"Asus does not intend to put the online purchasing in bad light. With focus on crafting what people desire, Asus earnestly endeavours to deliver incredible experiences even after the sales for its customers," Asus India said in a statement.
Irrespective of the channels of purchase, focus should be on the genuineness of the product, it added.
"Team Asus advises its users to be cautious on the pre and post sales terms and the authenticity of the product," the statement said.
Earlier this month, Chinese handset maker Gionee had issued a similar advisory to customers against buying its devices from online shopping sites saying these firms are not its authorised resellers.
In February, another Chinese player Lenovo had also cautioned its customers. It alleged that online portals were selling products at "very low predatory prices".
Lenovo carried a list of all authorised stores and genuine partners on its website as part of its efforts to inform buyers.
These trends seem to highlight that in a bid to woo customers, e-commerce companies are offering heavy discounts on products, which are often below prices offered in the offline market.
