In the Marvel comics, the character is a Chinese monk, martial artist and healer who loyally serves the Sorcerer Supreme, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Besides Cumberbatch and Wong, the film also stars Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen.
Wong most recently starred in Ridley Scott's "The Martian" and also appeared in Prometheus. He plays Kublai Khan in Netflix's "Marco Polo", too.
