"The state is committed to encourage green building practices and the challenge is to put in place a system for effective implementation and monitoring," Urban Development and Town & Country Planning secretary Debashis Sen said.
He said the state had come out with a notification to grant an increase of 10 per cent FAR for projects achieving green rating.
Indian Green Building Council chairman V Suresh said, "We are elevating from a safety regime to an eco-friendly regime in designing buildings, which augurs well for the country. Moreover, green buildings make good business sense.
