Bypoll to this seat was needed after present MLA Chowdhury joined Trinamool Congress from Congress.
Congress candidate Narendranath Tiwary also filed nomination for the bypoll to be held on 23 February.
They submitted the nominations to the Sub-Divisional Officer of Malda Pushpendu Mitra.
Chowdhury, as a Congress candidate, had defeated CPI-M candidate by a margin of more than 21,000 votes in 2011, officials said.
