'Besides formal edu, children should be given skill training'

Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma today said that besides ensuring formal education, children should be given training in developing at least one skill.
"The youth should be encouraged to voluntarily participate in skill development programmes," an official release quoting Sharma said here today.
With an objective to develop skill among youth, Haryana Kaushal Vikas Mission has been formed on the pattern of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, he said.
Under this mission, school and college dropouts and other unemployed youth would be given training, Sharma said.
Besides this, an agreement has been made with United Nations Development Programme to provide skill development training to women.

Under it, 10,000 women of the state would benefit in the next two years, the Education Minister said.
