Unable to accept the candidates selected by the party supremo for the ensuing Assembly elections in Salipur and Cuttack Sadar segments, BJD workers and supporters in the two constituencies of the district are in a belligerent mood.
Resentment is brewing among BJD workers in Cuttack Sadar constituency where the Salipur legislator Chandrasarathi Behera is pitted in place of his father and veteran leader Kalindi Behera.
Kalindi is stated to be missing from the BJD list for poor health although, several ailing and old leaders got BJD tickets this time.
Opposing the candidature of Chandrasarathi, many local BJD workers are staging protests and demanding that the constituency be now represented by a "son of the soil".
"We are no more going to work for the leaders imported from outside," said a BJD worker of the area suggesting that local and popular worker Prafulla Behera should have been given the party ticket here.
BJD sympathisers in Salipur are also not too happy with the party nominee Prashant Behera, who is now the Cuttack Zilla Parishad chairman and son of former Choudwar legislator Dharmananda Behera.
Even Prashant's candidature is not backed by the Salipur veteran leader Kalindi, who questions as to whether people of the area know Prashant well.
