Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbharda Singh today rubbished the BJP's "charge-sheet" against his government, saying "it is a bundle of lies".
Singh said the opposition was unnerved after a probe was initiated into charges levelled against the erstwhile BJP government, and was making "false and baseless allegations to malign my government and ministers".
He said a "charge-sheet" is normally submitted after watching the performance of a government for a considerable period of time, but the BJP has started a "new tradition" of giving "charge-sheet" after one year, and added that it was a "bundle of lies".
Singh said the Congress while in opposition submitted a "charge-sheet" against the then BJP government to the President. A probe has been ordered into the allegations of corruption and irregularities mentioned in it.
Cabinet ministers Vidya Stokes, Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Sudhir Sharma, and Prakash Chaudhary, whose names too figured in the "charge-sheet", also dubbed it a "bundle of lies".
"It is a deplorable attempt to divert the attention of the people from the ongoing inquiries," a statement issued by the minister said.
The ministers accused the BJP of misleading the people regarding the statement of Doon MLA Ram Kumar Chowdhary, booked in the murder of a 24-year-old woman, Jyoti, and said his father Lajja Ram has already denied that his son had made any such statement.
They said the BJP has not been able to reconcile with its defeat in the last Assembly elections, asked its leaders to look into the misdeeds of former Chief Minister P K Dhumal and his sons, who have turned the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) into a fief.
