"The change of political dispensation is meaningless for Kashmiris until the government brings changes in its policies and attitude towards the lingering Kashmir issue," Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, chairman of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference, said.
Addressing a gathering at the Jamia Masjid here, Mirwaiz favoured resolution of the Kashmir issue according to wishes and aspirations of the people.
He hoped contrary to the past, the new dispensation would take bold steps to start a meaningful dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiris to solve the issue once and for all.
"It does not matter for us because our struggle is not for power or government," the chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference said.
