BJP today strongly criticised Grand Mufti Bashiruddin Ahmad for his remarks against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's initiatives proposed for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, and demanded stern action against him.
"We strongly criticise Grand Mufti Bashiruddin Ahmad for his remarks on initiatives of Prime Minister Modi for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. We demand stern action against Grand Mufti," BJP leader and former IPS officer Farooq Khan said here today.
Addressing a gathering at Sainik Colony in Jammu, he called upon nationalists, including "right thinking Kashmiri Muslims", to condemn the remarks of the "self-styled Grand Mufti of Kashmir".
He said Kashmiri Pandits are the symbol of Indian nationalism, peace and prosperity, and anti-peace elements were trying to create a fear psychosis in the society on the proposed rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits by the Centre.
Hitting out at Grand Mufti, Khan said some religious leaders in Kashmir are mere actors and are being directed by their bosses sitting across the border.
He welcomed Modi's initiative and expressed hope that the mission would be completed in a comprehensive manner.
The BJP leader also said the party would ensure full security to Kashmiri Pandits as the community cannot be left at the mercy of Hurriyat and terrorists, and added that BJP is committed to the real rehabilitation of the Pandits.
