Congress spokesperson Rajiv Shukla claimed that the NDA government has failed in internal security front too, as naxal attacks have increased substantially, more in BJP-ruled states like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
"Flagship programmes of the Narendra Modi government have flopped. While Make in India has failed to bring in investment, Skill India failed to provide employment," he told reporters.
Shukla claimed that there is scarcity of employment opportunities in the country under the NDA government even as the prime minister had promised to create two crore jobs every year
Average employment generation has plummeted to less than two lakh jobs a year, while from 2009 to 2011, during UPA rule, the country's GDP was still growing at an average of 8.5 per cent and the organised sector was providing around 9.5 lakh jobs every year, the Congress leader said.
Agricultural growth has dropped from 3.5 per cent during the UPA government to 1.7 per cent now, Shukla said, adding if the farm sector sees no growth, the country will not progress and the gap between urban and rural areas will widen.
"Various initiatives did not work... Hundreds of foreign visits (by the prime minister) did not bring any investment. Now our own industries are on negative growth," Shukla said.
The BJP-led government at the Centre "mishandled" Pathankot terrorist attack due to lack of maturity and experience and terror strikes have raised questions on national security, he said.
In foreign policy too the Centre's performance was poor as tension escalated with Pakistan and the SAARC process was stalled, while it failed to contain aggressive acts of China, Shukla claimed.
Shukla said, "Health and education remained invisible and National Health Policy has disappeared and the National Health Mission (NHM) is floundering."
The education policy is limited to saffronisation and major educational institutions are struggling with large number of vacancies, the congress leader alleged.
