BJP slams Pak resolution

BJP in Jammu and Kashmir today denounced the Pakistan National Assembly resolution expressing support to people of the state in their struggle, and questioned why the Centre was silent on the issue.
The Pakistani resolution, expressing moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, is a violation of accepted norms of international diplomacy and an interference in the internal affairs of India, party spokesperson in the state Dr Jitendra Singh said.
"We denounce the Pakistan National Assembly resolution expressing moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their so-called struggle," Singh said.

"The question is not what Islamabad is doing but what New Delhi is doing to hold back Pakistan from indulging in this mischief and why the UPA government is silent over the resolution," he said and expressed surprise as to why the External Affairs Ministry failed to take a position on the issue.
On the plebiscite demand, Singh cited a 1948 UN resolution, and said as Pakistan had failed to abide by it in December that year, UN had said that the resolution was not binding on India.
He also asserted that Jammu & Kashmir was acceded to India under provisions of same legalities applicable to other princely states of the subcontinent.

Contesting the Pakistan resolution's expression of official support to a separatist movement, he said as per International Law, "secession" is not an option available in any federation.
As far as India is concerned, the only pending agenda over Jammu and Kashmir is to retrieve back the area of the state which continues to be under illegal occupation of Pakistan, he said and called upon the Centre to tell Pakistan to stop sponsoring militancy in India.
