BJP's Delhi unit took out a 'Sankalp March' here today vowing to fight against black money and ramping up support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation move.
Raising slogans hailing Modi and denouncing the critics of demonetisation, scores of party leaders and workers marched from Maharishi Valmiki Mandir to Patel Chowk near Parliament House in central Delhi.
The partymen were also administered oath of support to Prime Minister Modi's "fight against black money" and corruption by Union Minister of State for Finance Arjun Meghwal.
Union minister Harsh Vardhan, party's incharge of Delhi Shyam Jaju and state president Satish Upadhyay were present on the occasion.
Meghwal said that ordinary citizens have no reason to fear and that the government stands with all hard working Indians.
"The Modi government will ensure that honest and ordinary citizens do not face any kind of harassment or inquiry," he said, asking people to deposit their money in banks without fear.
The Government of India intends to develop a healthy economy whose ultimate beneficiary would be the common man, he added.
Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan said that it has been the continuous effort of the central government that every citizen gets the benefit of its schemes through banks and the country becomes a unique economic system in the world in which the industry, farmers and workers are equal partners.
Along with the partymen, Padma awardees Usha Sharma and KK Aggarwal, singer Shankar Sahani and tennis player Rohit Rajpal took the oath, said party spokesperson Praveen Kapoor.
