Senior BJP leader Vijender Gupta had the last laugh in the MCD polls as his party routed the AAP which had put up posters comparing its leader Arvind Kejriwal with Gupta and asking people to make a choice between the two for ruling civic bodies in Delhi.
Chief Minister Kejriwal's smiling face and Gupta's scowling face were splashed across the city on hoardings put up by Aam Aadmi Party during campaigning for the elections asking the electorate to whom they would like to give the reins of the three municipal corporations.
"Delhi people have given their reply to Kejriwal on my behalf," Gupta said.
Gupta who is leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, had taken strong note of his "distorted and villainous" depiction on the hoardings by AAP, complaining to the State Election Commission in the matter.
The Election Commission had sought a reply from the AAP over the issue.
The results for MCD polls announced by the State Election Commission, declared BJP victorious in 181 wards out of a total of 270 wards for which voting was held last Sunday.
The AAP managed to win 48 wards while Congress trailed behind with victories in 30 wards.
There are a total of 272 wards in three municipal corporations in Delhi. Voting in two wards was cancelled due to death of the candidates.
