Police sources said the workers were angry over their party's alliance with regional party AGP for the coming Assembly poll in Assam.
The agitators, mostly local-level BJP leaders, told reporters that newly-inducted leader Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was formerly with Congress, was to blame for the alliance which was "in his own political interest".
BJP's chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal told reporters later, he has urged his party men to set aside differences and work unitedly in the party's interest.
