Acting on a complaint about three women going missing from Dudhania village since yesterday, police recovered their bodies from a canal, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shashi Shankar Kumar said.
The victims, identified as Manju Devi, Reena Devi and Shobha Devi, had gone to nearby forest last evening to collect woods for bonfire where they were reportedly chased by some miscreants prompting them to plunge in the canal to avoid being caught by them, he said.
Raids were being carried out to nab those miscreants, Kumar said, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
