Body of newborn found, mother under suspicion

Body of a 45-days-old girl was today found in a dry well and it is suspected that her mother had put the infant there, a police official said today.
Girl's father, Rajesh filed a complaint regarding his daughter's disappearance. His wife, Seema had told him last evening that the baby is missing, Station House Officer of Mansarover police station, Balaram said.
Acting on the complaint the police searched for the girl and recovered her body today, he said.
"Although the mother claimed that she found her daughter missing but initial probe indicates that she threw the baby into the well because the girl was ill for past few days," Balaram said.

Seema is a suspect in the matter, the SHO said, adding the postmortem report would ascertain whether the girl died before being thrown into the well or died in it.
No arrest has been made in this connection so far, the SHO added.
