A case has been registered in this connection and the accused car driver has been arrested, said DCP(outer) Vikramjeet Singh.
Dipak was playing with other children at a banquet hall Abhinandan Vatika when he came under the wheels of an SUV driven allegedly by the accused Rijul Gupta. The accused was nephew of the owner of the banquet hall, police said.
The accused fled from the scene after the incident. The locals held a protest demanding arrest of the accused who was later caught by police.
Later, a police team reached there and sent the body of the child for post mortem examination and pacified the locals.
Deceased lived with his family including his father Shiv Kumar and mother Munni Devi and a sibling, at Indira Enclave in Aman Vihar.
