BPO policy for small towns soon: Prasad

The government will soon finalise the policy that aims to encourage setting up of BPOs in small towns.
"We are very soon going to finalise policy for BPOs in small towns of India," Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said at an industry event here.
He was talking on the need to push vocational courses to meet demand of workforce requirement in the coming days.
The minister said the private sector can play a big role in skill development.
"It is in the interest of private sector to play big role to skill India as it will help them in getting good workforce. This should be done without looking for government incentives," Prasad said.
The minister said that government is pushing electronics manufacturing in a big way which requires 28 million fresh talents.
"I would like industry to come with idea where we can have three months of study and three months on shop floor," he said.
The minister said the government is streamlining about 36 training courses that were being run by various ministries under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Yojana and there is a need to adopt uniform standards throughout the country.
He said to expedite skill building process "either we need to change or change will overtake us.
