British singer Cilla Black dies at 72

Cilla Black, the iconic television star and 1960s popular British singer promoted by The Beatles who enjoyed a 50-year show-business career, has died aged 72.
The singing star became a popular TV celebrity on British shows like 'Blind Date' and 'Surprise Surprise.'
Police in Malaga, Spain, said a woman named Priscilla White -- Black's real name -- has died in Estepona in the Costa del Sol region.
The death appeared to be due to natural causes, but this had not yet been confirmed by tests, Spanish police said.
British Prime Minister David Cameron led tributes to the beloved entertainer, remembering her as "a huge talent who made a significant contribution to public life."

Born Priscilla White in Liverpool, she started out working in the cloakroom at the Cavern club, where her talent was first spotted by rising local stars The Beatles.

The band championed Black and introduced her to their manager Brian Epstein, who signed her.
Black changed her name to launch a singing career with hits such as 'Anyone Who Had a Heart' and 'You're My World.'
She made her TV debut in 1968 with her own BBC One primetime series and went on to host a number of shows for ITV.
Last year, Black received honours from Bafta and the UK's Royal Television Society in recognition of her distinguished career.

Black's husband Bobby Willis died in 1999. She is survived by their three sons.
