In a reunion after 10 years, two brothers, who left their home state Assam separately in search of a job and landed in Kerala, met each other here recently.
When the elder brother Deepak managed to get a job as a worker at the Kochi metro construction site, his aim was to keep searching for his younger sibling Sanjay, who had left Guwahati in 2005 as a 11-year-old and there was no news about him after that.
Sanjay had been brought to Kerala along with other some other children by an agent to work as child labourer. He worked for a year at a chicken stall at nearby Edapally where he used to do odd jobs. Though he was given food, there was no salary. When he asked, he was told that the agent was regularly collecting it.
Peeved by this, the boy left the shop.
With police launching stringent action against those employing children, Sanjay failed to get a job anywhere.
He managed to get shelter at the nearby Janseva orphanage, completed his 10th standard and did a course in hotel management and is presently employed as a Assistant chef in a hotel here.
Deepak continued his search for his brother which brought him to the orphanage. When he informed the orphanage authorities about Sanjay, they immediately contacted him.
When the two met, they recognised each other, hugged and wept, orphanage authorities said.
The brothers said they would soon be leaving for their home together to meet their parents and other siblings.
