A training programme to equip college students with necessary work skills and make them meaningfully employed in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector upon graduation was launched today.
Funded by J P Morgan, the 10-week training programme has been developed by BSE Institute and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
It would focus on subjects relevant to the BFSI sector, as well as soft skills like the English language and business communications, a joint statement said.
Ambarish Datta, MD & CEO, BSE Institute, said India has been steadily improving its position as a provider of cutting edge services for the global financial BFSI industry.
A wide range of profiles from payment processing, mortgage processing, and core bank administration, to risk management, compliance, and an increasing number of analytics processes are being handled by teams in India for a variety of global organizations, he said.
"This requires a steady flow of skilled professionals who are equipped with the knowledge of international regulations and global products and services. We are confident that with this initiative we will be able to groom the youth of our country for these roles," Datta said.
CII Deputy Director General Sujith Haridas said BFSI is one of the high growth sectors in India and this joint initiative would focus in ensuring that India's youth have gainful employment through our quality interventions across India.
