A three-and-a-half-year old boy was rescued from suspected human traffickers by BSF personnel in Assam's Dhubri district along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
BSF troops of Gachpara border outpost yesterday acted on specific information about the presence of a kidnapped boy in the house of one Kismat Ali at Takamari, a release issued by the Border Security Force (BSF) said here today.
The boy, identified as Runi, was allegedly brought to the village by one Moinuddin and temporarily kept in Ali's house.
The abductors were planning to take him to Bangladesh.
Runi was rescued but Ali managed to escape. The BSF troops later searched the house of Moinuddin who also managed to flee, the release said.
The boy said his father's name is Jainal and that his parents worked in a brick kiln in Fulbari village.
According to the release, Runi has been handed over to the local police.
