Uma Shanker Singh, BSP MLA from Rasra in Ballia district, and three other lease holders of the land were booked for the alleged illegal mining in the area late last night, Obra police station Circle Officer Pramod Kumar Yadav said.
The FIR had been lodged by mining supervisor Ramnath Prajapati, the CO said, adding that mining equipments were also seized from the site.
Acting on a complaint, Mining and Revenue Department with Sub Divisional Magistrate and Additional SP had conducted an inquiry in the area yesterday and detected the illegal mining at site number 4478 during the night hours, the CO said.
