Multi System Operators have opposed Delhi government's move to double the entertainment tax which would be applicable on cable TV and DTH services, saying that it would put additional burden on the common man.
According to All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF), the doubling of the entertainment tax would be an added burden on the common man whose main source of entertainment is the television.
"The said proposal of Delhi Government is like giving a piece of bread with right hand and snatching back the same from left hand. AIDCF strictly condemns the proposed hike," said AIDCF, a body for MSOs.
Presenting the annual budget last week, Delhi government had proposed to double the entertainment tax to 40 per cent from 20 per cent.
The association said that cable TV operators will have no choice but to pass on the hike to the common man.
