Alberta Premier Alison Redford, who is on an India visit, said her province wants to benefit from the expanding Indo-Canada trade ties.
"I believe that there's much more room to diversify and grow. As India expands domestic exploration and production in oil and gas, even more opportunities for collaboration and investment will open up, including many beyond energy," she told PTI here.
Alberta is the third largest oil producer and leading LNG producer in the world, Redford said.
"Currently, the bilateral trade between India and Canada stands at USD 5.2 billion, which may surpass USD 15 billion by 2015. We see some large investments from Indian companies in Alberta in the near future," she said.
The trade mission will allow us to open new doors for Alberta organisations and enable Indian businesses to identify new opportunities in the Canadian province, she said.
The visiting Premier opened a new trade office of her province yesterday in New Delhi.
The office will play a crucial part in continuing to encourage trade and investment between the two regions by "providing on-the-ground resources and connecting Alberta and India companies," she added.
Redford will also be visiting Bangalore and Amritsar.
