The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) today dismissed a petition filed by Andhra Pradesh Government seeking to vacate the stay on the transfer of a Superintendent of Police from Kurnool district to city.
The Hyderabad Bench of CAT comprising Justice P Swaroop Reddy and Ranjana Chowdary (member, administration) rejected the state government's petition and the stay on the transfer order of the Kurnool district Superintendent of Police K Raghuram Reddy, shall continue till further orders.
The SP, who was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone), had moved the CAT challenging his "abrupt" transfer and the tribunal in October last week had stayed his transfer.
"The CAT has rejected the state government's petition seeking to vacate the stay on the transfer of the SP. The stay will continue till further orders," the SP's counsel J Sudheer said, adding the main petition seeking to set aside his transfer order is pending.
In the petition, the SP had earlier said that he was transferred (to Hyderabad city) within four months of his posting (to Kurnool) in July this year and the transfer was in contravention of the directions of the Supreme Court.
The SP had said that he was transferred twice within four months and urged the bench to set aside his transfer order and contended that he must be continued in the post for two years as per earlier Supreme Court directions.
