The Haryana government today said
All bus stands in the state will be fitted with CCTV cameras to prevent any mischief in the premises.
" A sum of Rs 4 crore will be spent on the installation of
CCTV cameras in all the bus stands to prevent any mischief," Haryana Director General of State Transport Arun Kumar said in a statement here.
He said that such cameras will also be installed in city buses running in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
Besides this, Global Positioning System (GPS) would also be installed in city buses but this would take another six months time in completing the procedure as tenders would be invited next month, he said.
Kumar informed that the Transport department will increase the number of buses in Gurgaon to 150 in next four months which will include 50 AC and 100 ordinary buses.
The local bus service which was initially started with 32 buses in a shift on May 12 last year, now has 100 buses plying during the time period, he said.
Unfolding new projects for Gurgaon, the DGP said that five more buses would be added to the fleet of Super Luxury Volvo Buses, which ply between Gurgaon and state capital Chandigarh, taking the number of such vehicles to 20.
Two new bus stands would be constructed in Gurgaon at a cost of nearly Rs 10 crore by Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPHC), he added.
