The actor, who arrived at Velammal Medical College Complex by helicopter, said he was not aware of the "Roopam" (form) of the trilingual movie.
"But we have shown all our skills in producing the film, reposing faith in you (fans). You should add greatness, pomp and grandeur to the film by seeing it," he said.
Haasan also sang a song from the film along with Sankar Mahadevan at the function, during which the trailer was screened. Actresses Andrea and Poojakumar were also present.
One of the actor's fans Badrinath, an alternatively abled sportsman, accepted the first copy of the CD.
Earlier, police baton charged a crowd which caused a near stampede as they attempted to shake hands with the actresses.
Haasan's idea of having just one show eight hours ahead of the movie's scheduled release on January 11 on Direct to Home platform has not gone down well with theatre owners who believe this new trend could dent their business if more producers of multi-crore Tamil cinema take a cue from him.
"Viswaroopam", starring Rahul Bose, Shekar Kapoor and Andrea Jermiah, among others, is a multi-million-rupee budget film directed and produced by Haasan.
