Lucky to work with Anik Dutta in Aschorjo Prodip: Mumtaj

"Working with Anikda will help you perfect each and every step. There can be many takes, many rehearsals but you will thank your stars once he takes the final shot, you can instantly feel what he was asking for and (that) he was right," Mumtaj, who had also turned up in Anik's debut feature film 'Bhooter Bhabisyot' told PTI on the location shoot today.

"He is one director you will feel the effort is worth it once you are through. I came to know about it when I worked with him in 'Bhooter Bhabisyot'. And I am reliving the experience again, he is very affectionate and I am lucky enough," Mumtaj, who is also part of several other important Bengali film projects, affirmed.

The daughter from the family of famed magician P C Sorcar (Junior) will, however, assert despite having fantasy and modern-day magic allusions in the film Aschorjo Prodip, drawn from a Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay short story, she did not play the role of a conjurer in the film.

"I am basically a famous supermodel, who is one of the wishs of the salesman played by Apuda (Saswata Chatterjee) and this is one dance number where I visit the salesman as he chances upon magic lamp and is allowed three wishes by the genie (enacted by Rajatava Dutta)," she explained after the shoot where the salesman goes wafts inside tv set at his modest home watching a stage performance by the supermodel.

"Yes, you can call it an item number, my first one but very aesthetically shot," she said about the dance number, called Mala M in the backdrop of fantasy car and ballet music.

"After Bhooter Bhabisyot, my career sure had a turnaround with the role in Meghe Dhaka Tara (Ritwik Ghatak biopic), Nayika Sangbad and now Aschorjo Prodip," Mumtaj said.
