Central official reviews demonetisation impact in Coimbatore

Reviewing the post-demonetisation situation, a senior central government official today directed banks here to take steps to ensure adequate cash was dispensed through ATMs in rural areas without any interruption.
At a review meeting held here to assess the impact of demonetisation on general public, particularly in rural areas, Deputy Secretary of Urban Development M Janaki asked the bank officials to take steps to make available Rs 100 and Rs 2,000 notes to the public without any problem.
According to official sources, she said that feedback from the representatives of a cross section of society, including farmers associations, industry associations, SME, Trade bodies and common man on the scrapping of the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, will be compiled and a report would be submitted to the government.

District Collector T N Hariharan, officials from IT department, the Manager of Lead District Bank, senior officials of banks and NABARD were present at the meeting, the sources said.
