Centre should frame a policy on integrating systems of medicine to give effective relief to the sick, Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader has said.
Addressing a two-day meet of Ayush practitioners which began yesterday, he said by introducing such a policy a uniform system could be followed across the country.
The meet was organized by the department of Ayush, Karnataka Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners (KAUP) board, state Homoeopathy Board, National Integrated Medical Association, state Govt Ayush Medical officers Association and state chapter of Ayush Federation of India.
He said that best of ayurveda, homoeopathy, siddha and other alternative Indian medicines should be encouraged and integrated with allopathic medicine for offering better treatment to patients.
Central Council of Indian Medicine should recommend to the Central government to establish Ayush University in each State, to carry out research in the fields he said adding that the Karnataka government proposed to start an Ayush University next year.
