Chad Stahelski to direct 'Highlander' remake

"John Wick" filmmaker Chad Stahelski has been signed on to direct the "Highlander" reboot.
The project has been in the works since 2008 and filmmakers Justin Lin, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Cedric Nicolas-Troyan have all been attached, but now Stahelski has landed the job, The Hollywood Reporter said.
"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school. Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colourful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces," Stahelski said.

The original 1986 film starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown as immortals trying to kill each other to gain power. The movie was followed by four sequels and three TV shows.
