They submitted a memorandum to the Superintndent of Police, demanding action against the cops involved in the incident.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here, CCC president Harshwardhan Singhvi, said that the business community, which enjoys cordial relations with the police has been deeply hurt by the inhuman treatment meted out to the innocent trader.
He said that a representation comprising office bearers of various traders' associations met Superintendent of Police Sandeep Diwan and submitted a memorandum demanding action against 11 policemen who allegedly took turns to assault the innocent trader, Rohit Bothra.
The SP also assured that a departmental enquiry would be initiated against the accused cops and appropriate action like suspension or transfer orders might be issued as per rules, if the personnel are found guilty, he said.
Singhvi said that merchants are determined not to put with police atrocities and they would press for action against the culprits, if the action initiated by the superintendent of police fails to satisfy the business community.
The traders may even call for a shot down (bandh) if they are not satisfied with the disciplinary action, Singhvi said.
