The Lokayukta Special Police Establishment (SPE) today filed a charge-sheet in the district court against tainted IAS couple Arvind and Tinoo Joshi, besides 17 others, in connection with the couple's assets disproportionate to the known sources of income.
Lokayukta sources said the charge-sheet was filed against 19 persons, including the IAS couple, Arvind Joshi's father H M Joshi, mother Namrata Joshi, sisters Abha and Vibha, associate S P Kohli, his wife and sons Simat and Sahil, Delhi-based stamp vendor, Raj Rani, insurance agent Seema Jaiswal and property broker Pradeep Jain.
The prosecution filed a 6,700-page charge-sheet before Additional Session Judge B K Dwivedi today, in which they alleged the couple has additional Rs 41.37 crore assets from their known sources of income.
In 2010, the Income tax department had raided the residence of the IAS couple in Bhopal and unearthed assets valued at Rs 360 crore. They had been charged under relevant sections of IPC.
The prosecution said the Joshi couple, his father H M Joshi, mother Nirmala Joshi, Abha Joshi, Dhani and Vibha Joshi were not present today in the court during today's hearing.
The court has ordered that all the chargesheeted persons be produced during the next hearing on March 22.
